Modelled irrigable land in the Motupiko Catchment

Modelled irrigable land in the Motupiko Catchment

Introduction

The Nelson-Tasman region suffers from seasonal water shortages that limit the potential for agricultural and horticultural development. The Tasman Regional Water Study (2003) identified these water short areas and subsequently there have been several projects in the region investigating the possibility of water storage and augmenting flows in the summer to meet irrigation demand.

Research Approach

Inestigations have included:

Site of possible dam in Upper Motupiko Modelled inflows for one potential dam site in Motupiko
