What identifiable information is collected?

Information is gathered directly from you when you register as a programme participant or a friend of ICM Motueka. If you contact us, we may keep a record of that correspondence. If we decide to collect information from elsewhere on the site, we will try to include a link to this Privacy Policy on that page.

How is the information used?

Our primary goal in collecting information is to help project staff and stakeholders find who to go to for information regarding a specific area of expertise, e.g. freshwater ecology, soils, marine farming, participatory research processes, etc.

The list also enables us to send Email updates of signficant events and web updates to those people who indicate on the form that this is what they would like.

If any user statistics are collected, identifying features will be removed before this information is compiled and analysed on an aggregated basis.

If the data is to be collected and/or maintained by anyone else, you will be notified prior to the time of the data collection or transfer. If you do not want your data to be shared, you can choose not to allow the transfer.

Please be aware that the information practices of web sites which may be linked to the ICM Motueka Programme are not covered by this privacy statement.

We will not sell or rent user information to anyone.

How can you edit or delete information?

You may update, correct or otherwise amend your information by re-inserting your details or by contacting Chris Phillips. EmailSend email to PhillipsC

Upon request, your information can be deleted or deactivated but doing so will result in your not being able to access the Project Staff Room if you are a participant or be notified of important updates and events if you are a friend of ICM Motueka.

What security precautions are in place to protect the loss, misuse or alteration of information

Access to the Project Staff Room is password-protected so that only programme participants have access to the information.

We recommend that you do not divulge your password to anyone. We will never ask you for your password in an unsolicited phone call or in an unsolicited email.

As a result, while we strive to protect your information, we cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit to us and you do so at your own risk. Once we receive your transmission, we make our best effort to ensure its security on our systems.

What else should I know about online privacy

Please keep in mind that whenever you voluntarily disclose information online in other than a password-protected environment - for example on message boards, through email, or in "chat" areas - that information can be collected and used by others. In short, if you post personal information online that is accessible to the public, you may receive unsolicited messages from other parties in return. Ultimately, you are solely responsible for maintaining the secrecy of your passwords. Please be careful and responsible whenever you are online.
